US Questions Brazilian Subsidies At WTO

Law360, New York (February 17, 2011, 4:21 PM EST) -- The U.S. has reportedly asked the World Trade Organization to help determine whether the low-interest financing Brazil’s state-run development bank gives to local industries amounts to an illegal subsidy for those industries’ exports.

The U.S.' document challenging the subsidies, delivered Feb. 10, asks Brazil to respond to American concerns about the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social’s funding for major industrial projects, according to a report Thursday in the Estadao de Sao Paulo newspaper.
