Gov't Must Act On Ensco Drilling Applications: Judge

Law360, New York (February 17, 2011, 7:37 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Thursday gave the U.S. Department of the Interior 30 days to take action on five deepwater drilling permit applications sought by Ensco Offshore Co., calling months of government inaction on the matter “increasingly inexcusable.”

Judge Martin Feldman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana ordered the DOI’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement to either grant or deny the permit applications, the earliest of which was submitted in April, saying further delays were unreasonable.
