EPA Proposes New Lead Smelting Pollution Rules

Law360, New York (February 18, 2011, 3:28 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new air pollution standards for lead smelting, including emission limits for lead and the elimination of special emission rules for startup and shutdown of facilities found by a court to violate the Clean Air Act.

In a Federal Register notice published Thursday, the agency said it was proposing the changes in response to risk and technology reviews conducted under requirements of the Clean Air Act.
