Minn. House Votes To Lift Nuclear Plant Ban

Law360, New York (February 18, 2011, 5:19 PM EST) -- Minnesota lawmakers have approved a Republican-backed bill that would roll back a ban on the construction of new nuclear power plants within the state, though the effort is not likely to survive a veto from the state's Democratic governor.

The Minnesota House of Representatives passed H.F. No. 9, which would strike a sentence of state law that says the Public Utilities Commission “may not issue a certificate of need for the construction of a new nuclear-powered electric generating plant” in an 81-50 vote on Thursday....
