Chinese Court Upholds Conviction Of US Geologist

Law360 (February 18, 2011, 2:31 PM EST) -- A Chinese court on Friday affirmed the conviction of an American oil geologist sentenced to eight years in prison on charges of industrial espionage, despite repeated pleas from U.S. officials to release the man.

Xue Feng, a U.S. citizen born in China, was convicted in July of spying and collecting state secrets while working for IHS Energy, a consulting company based in Colorado. Xue was also fined the equivalent of $29,500, according to the U.S. Department of State.
