AIG Employee Says She Was Fired For Blowing Whistle

Law360, New York (February 18, 2011, 3:12 PM EST) -- A former compliance officer at American International Group Inc. has accused the company of firing her after she uncovered unusual trading by a former chief financial officer.

AIG fired Jacqueline Millan, who worked in the insurer's financial products section, for investigating trading irregularities by former CFO Ronald Latz, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

The sacking violated the anti-retaliation provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Connecticut employment law, Millan claims.
