Court Upholds Ex-HealthSouth VP's Conviction

Law360, New York (April 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has upheld the only conviction that led to a prison sentence stemming from the accounting scandal that pushed HealthSouth Inc. to the brink of collapse when it came to light in 2002.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on Friday affirmed “on all grounds” the conviction of Hannibal “Sonny” Crumpler, formerly a vice president with the Alabama-based medical services provider.

Crumpler has already begun serving an eight-year sentence for conspiracy to commit fraud and providing false statements to auditors....
