Thailand Appeals WTO Panel Cigarettes Ruling

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 6:38 PM EST) -- Thailand announced Tuesday it planned to appeal a ruling from the World Trade Organization's Dispute Settlement Body that said the country's fiscal and customs policies unfairly taxed cigarettes from the Philippines.

In a November report, the Dispute Settlement Body ruled overwhelmingly in favor of the Philippines, which primarily took issue with the way Thailand determines the value of imported cigarettes.
