Abramoff Lobbyist Appeals 20-Month Sentence

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 6:59 PM EST) -- Former lobbyist Michael Scanlon, a key player in the Jack Abramoff conspiracy, on Wednesday appealed a federal judge's decision that he could not amend a plea agreement that resulted in a 20-month prison sentence and $20 million in restitution.

Scanlon filed a notice of appeal in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, challenging a Nov. 30 order by Judge Ellen S. Huvelle that barred him from amending his plea agreement in light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in USA v. Skilling....
