Credit Union Head Gets 9 Years For Embezzlement

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 7:19 PM EST) -- The former head of the Center Valley Federal Credit Union was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in prison and ordered to pay nearly $5 million in restitution after pleading guilty to embezzlement and money laundering charges.

Bernie D. Metz, 57, who was CEO and manager of Center Valley, received her sentence from Judge Frederick P. Stamp Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.

Under the sentence, Metz's nine years in prison will be followed by five years of supervised release....
