Fujifilm To Buy 2 Merck Biotech Units For $490M

Law360, New York (February 28, 2011, 7:24 PM EST) -- Fujifilm Holdings Corp. on Monday said it would buy two Merck & Co. Inc. manufacturing and service subsidiaries in a deal reportedly worth $490 million in a bid to boost its presence in the pharmaceutical industry.

Fujifilm will acquire Merck BioManufacturing Network, a leading provider of contract manufacturing and development services for the biopharmaceutical industry that is wholly owned by Merck, the companies said.

The deal would be worth about 40 billion yen ($490 million), according to Japanese business daily Nikkei.
