Fla. Sens. Sue Gov. Scott To Take US Rail Money

Law360, New York (March 1, 2011, 11:32 PM EST) -- Two Florida state senators took Gov. Rick Scott to court Tuesday over his decision to reject $2.4 billion in federal funds designated for a high-speed rail line connecting Tampa to Orlando, Fla.

Senate Democratic Leader Pro Tempore Arthenia Joyner, D-Tampa, and state Sen. Thad Altman, R-Melbourne, filed an emergency petition in Florida Supreme Court, claiming the Republican governor had exceeded his constitutional authority by refusing to accept the funds.
