EU Raids Publishers In E-Book Cartel Probe

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 12:37 PM EST) -- European Union antitrust regulators raided the headquarters of Hachette Livre SA and several other digital book publishers Tuesday based on concerns about a possible cartel in the e-book industry.

The European Commission confirmed the surprise inspections Wednesday, saying it "has reason to believe" the companies it is investigating may have run afoul of EU rules banning cartels and other restrictive business practices.
