W.Va. Senate OKs Intermediate Appeals Court

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 6:10 PM EST) -- The West Virginia Senate on Wednesday advanced a bill that would create an Intermediate Court of Appeals in the state.

The bill would create a three-judge panel to hear appeals sent to it from the state's Supreme Court of Appeals, with the Intermediate Court of Appeals to be established and operating by Jan. 1, 2013.

The Senate voted 24-9 in favor of Senate Bill 307, according to a spokeswoman for acting Senate President Joseph V. Kessler, one of the sponsors of the legislation.
