4th Circ. Sinks Builders' Bid For Damages From Insurer

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 7:45 PM EST) -- G&G Builders Inc. and North American Precast Inc. are not entitled to punitive damages from their insurer in a construction collapse coverage suit, the Fourth Circuit ruled Wednesday, upholding a decision to slash $3 million from a jury verdict.

The ruling in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit affirmed Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr.'s post-verdict rulings in the building contractors' case against General Casualty Co. of Wisconsin in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
