Execs May Not Have Executed Spy Plot, Renault Says

Law360, New York (March 4, 2011, 3:16 PM EST) -- Renault SA's second-highest ranking executive reportedly expressed doubts Thursday about whether three employees the carmaker fired had actually engaged in industrial espionage against the company.

Chief Operating Officer Patrick Pelata admitted in an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro that the company may have been tricked into believing that three now-fired executives had leaked sensitive information regarding details of the company's electric cars, saying the company would make it up to the employees if the allegations prove false.
