Switzerland Widens Swisscom Fiber Optics Probe

Law360, New York (March 4, 2011, 6:24 PM EST) -- Switzerland antitrust regulators expanded their investigation of Swisscom Ltd.'s plans to build new fiber-optic networks in the country on Thursday to include the company’s deal with Zurich's electrical utility.

The Swiss Competition Commission said that it was opening a preliminary probe into the deal based on concerns that several clauses in the company's cooperation agreement with Zurich's Elektrizitatwerk might hinder competition for telecom services in the future.
