Retired Fed. Circ. Judge Blasts Patent Reform Efforts

Law360 (March 8, 2011, 1:30 PM EST) -- Retired Federal Circuit Chief Judge Paul Michel on Tuesday sharply criticized patent reform efforts that have led to the America Invents Act bill the U.S. Senate passed that evening, saying vast new resources are needed for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The debate and drafting of the bill in Congress has been largely reactive to strong lobbying by a variety of special interests, especially over the past decade, Michel said at a panel discussion on patent reform in before Congress.
