EU Lawmakers Warn Trade Deals Must Protect Farmers

Law360, New York (March 8, 2011, 4:44 PM EST) -- European Union lawmakers upset with concessions the bloc's negotiators have offered during the Doha Round of global trade talks warned trade officials on Tuesday against pursuing deals that threaten the EU's agricultural industry.

The European Parliament passed a resolution Tuesday that called on the European Commission to stop making concessions that may harm EU farmers in order to gain access to foreign markets.
