Judge Awards Asbestos Victim $3.2 Million

Law360, New York (April 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A court has ordered eight companies, including Shell Oil, to fork over $3.2 million to a Louisiana welder who developed fatal lung cancer after years of on-the-job exposure to asbestos.

In an order signed this week, Judge Robert Burns, of the 19th Judicial District Court for the Parish of East Baton Rouge, awarded Ray Rando $2.8 million for pain, suffering and mental anguish, plus another $402,000 in special damages.
