PPG Chemicals Busted Compressors, Danfoss Says

Law360, New York (March 9, 2011, 4:37 PM EST) -- Compressor manufacturer Danfoss Scroll Technologies LLC slapped chemical maker PPG Industries Inc. with a breach of contract suit in Arkansas federal court on Monday for supplying chemicals that damaged Scroll's compressors, resulting in a nationwide recall.

Scroll compressors and component parts that were coated with PPG's chemicals showed premature wear that weakened crankcase seals, causing the machines to malfunction, according to the complaint filed by the Danfoss A/S unit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas.
