Securities Actions Deals Tumbled In 2010: Report

Law360, New York (March 10, 2011, 1:25 AM EST) -- Securities class action settlements dropped to their lowest levels in over 10 years in 2010 and the total value of those settlements also took a steep hit, according to report released Thursday by consulting firm Cornerstone Research Inc.

Courts approved 86 securities class action settlements in 2010 for a total of $3.1 billion, according to the report. The 86 total settlements represented a 15 percent drop from the 101 settlements in 2009 and the $3.1 billion total settlement value was a drop of 17 percent from...
