WTO Ambassadors Back Call To Speed Up Doha Talks

Law360, New York (March 9, 2011, 4:28 PM EST) -- World Trade Organization ambassadors said Tuesday they shared Director-General Pascal Lamy's concerns that while the Doha Development Round talks to lower trade barriers have recently made headway, negotiators need to gain momentum in order to reach a final deal by year's end.

The remarks came at an informal meeting of the WTO's Trade Negotiations Committee, with several ambassadors predicting that recent progress in the talks is still not fast enough to meet late April targets, the organization said in a statement.
