US Asks CIT To Nix BP's Bid For Oil Duty Refunds

Law360, New York (March 9, 2011, 2:40 PM EST) -- The U.S. government asked a federal court Tuesday to squash a suit seeking to recoup taxes, fees and duties that a BP PLC subsidiary paid on its crude oil exports and imports.

In a motion filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade, the government slammed BP Oil Supply Co.'s suit and subsequent motion for summary judgment, saying the oil giant failed to show it deserved the customs drawbacks.
