EU Raids Baltic Rail Cos. In Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (March 10, 2011, 5:42 PM EST) -- European antitrust officials raided several companies in the Baltic rail freight sector Tuesday, including Lithuanian Railways, based on suspicions of a possible cartel or other anti-competitive activities.

The European Commission confirmed the surprise inspections Thursday, saying it had "reason to believe" the companies might have run afoul of European Union rules barring cartels, restrictive business practices and the abuse of dominant market position.
