Dutch Court Frees Seized Sony PS3 Consoles

Law360, New York (March 10, 2011, 5:49 PM EST) -- A Dutch court on Thursday reportedly ordered the release of 300,000 Sony Corp. PlayStation 3 consoles that had been seized by customs officials on behalf of LG Electronics Inc. in an ongoing patent battle between the two electronics giants.

A court in The Hague found that the units should not be impounded and that LG should pay a fine of €200,000 ($276,000) for each day that the units continue to be held, according to De Telegraaf, the Netherlands' biggest newspaper.
