Chevron Appeals $8.6B Enviro Judgment

Law360, New York (March 10, 2011, 8:40 PM EST) -- Chevron Corp. is appealing an $8.6 billion judgment handed down by an Ecuadorean court in February in a high-profile lawsuit over pollution and contamination in the Amazon rain forest.

The oil company filed an appeal Wednesday in the Provincial Court of Justice of Sucumbios in Lago Agrio, Ecuador, asking the court to annul the entire process because of lack of jurisdiction and alleged fraud and misconduct on the part of the plaintiffs.
