FERC: Transparency Needed In Natural Gas Market

Law360, New York (April 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Flexing the muscles it was granted by the 2005 Energy Act, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday proposed new rules to facilitate price transparency in the natural gas market.

Under the proposal, interstate gas pipelines would need to post daily capacities and volumes of natural gas flowing through their major receipt and delivery points.

This will give FERC a better picture of daily supply and demand conditions that affect the wholesale gas markets, FERC said.
