Three Rivers Sues Rival Over Hep C Treatment

Law360, New York (April 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Drug maker Three Rivers Pharmaceuticals LLC filed suit Tuesday against generic drug company Zydus Pharmaceuticals (USA) Inc., claiming infringement of a patent for its hepatitis C treatment.

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Three Rivers claimed Zydus’ ribavirin caplets and tablets infringe on its patent, U.S. Patent No. 6,720,000. The patent describes a method for producing ribavirin pellets, which Three Rivers markets and sells under the brand name Ribasphere.
