CFTC Mulls End To Registration Exemptions

Law360, New York (March 15, 2011, 6:08 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has issued new proposals that would eliminate or narrow exemptions from CFTC registration currently available to investment funds, extending revised regulations to commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisers for business pertaining to swaps.

The amendments, to be carried out pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, were announced by the commission on Tuesday.
