Spain Targets 17 Envelope Makers In Cartel Probe

Law360 (March 16, 2011, 3:42 PM EDT) -- Citing concerns about price-fixing and market sharing in the Spanish envelope industry, the country's competition watchdog targeted 17 manufacturers, vendors and distributors in an investigation opened Wednesday.

Spain's National Competition Commission opened formal disciplinary proceedings against the companies based on information it unearthed during October raids of a number of companies involved in the country's paper envelope industry. The material it collected during the surprise inspections showed prima facie evidence that the companies had engaged in illegal anti-competitive activity, according to the regulator.
