Police Captains Ask High Court To Review Bias Suit

Law360, New York (March 16, 2011, 7:30 PM EDT) -- A group of former Memphis, Tenn., police captains asked the U.S. Supreme Court last week to review a dismissed suit alleging the city's decision to abolish the rank of tenure-based captain breached an employment agreement and discriminated against older workers.

The 23 captains' petition for a writ of certiorari, filed in the high court March 11, asked for reconsideration of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit's decision in December affirming a lower court's August 2008 decision to grant summary judgment to the city....
