HHS Readies Health Exchange Guidance For States

Law360, New York (March 17, 2011, 1:54 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services plans to release formal guidance in the spring telling states how to set up and operate new insurance exchanges created by the health care reform law, a senior official said Thursday.

Steve Larsen, deputy administrator and director for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, told the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee that HHS hoped to release guidelines so states can get cracking on the groundwork for the exchanges...
