Issa, DHS Spar Over FOIA Whistleblower

Law360, New York (March 17, 2011, 6:51 PM EDT) -- Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., called out the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday over a DHS employee allegedly demoted for blowing the whistle on political interference with the agency's Freedom of Information Act requests.

Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, expressing concerns over the DHS' treatment of then-Deputy Chief FOIA Officer Catherine Papoi.
