Berkshire Unit Bound By Coverage Settlement: Judge

Law360, New York (March 17, 2011, 6:59 PM EDT) -- A federal judge ruled Wednesday that a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. affiliate is bound by a settlement agreement it refused to sign in an insurance coverage dispute over alleged contamination from a chemical distribution facility in Lockwood, Mont.

Judge Richard F. Cebull of the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana said Soco West Inc. agreed to the settlement with U.S. Fidelity & Guaranty Co. and Continental Insurance Co. via a Dec. 20 e-mail in which the company's outside counsel said the language in the agreement...
