Food Safety System Remains In Disorder: GAO

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 3:19 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office issued a report Friday urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and oversight agencies to step up collaboration and institute an overarching performance plan to improve the nation’s food safety system.

Two years after President Obama created the Food Safety Working Group, the GAO said more needs to be done to upgrade U.S. food safety laws and integrate the 15 federal agencies entrusted with preventing unsafe food from entering the market.
