Jim Beam Sued Over Lipstick Imprint On Labels

Law360, New York (March 21, 2011, 3:45 PM EDT) -- The maker of Johnny Love Vodka on Friday hit Jim Beam Brands Co. and Fortune Brands Inc. with a suit claiming they infringed a trademark found on its flavored vodka products depicting a lipstick imprint.

JL Beverage Co. LLC alleges in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada that the defendants’ recently released line of Pucker flavored vodkas — which have labels with images of lips nearly identical to those in use by the JL Beverage— unfairly capitalizes on Johnny Love Vodka’s business....
