Sanofi, Merck Drop Animal Health Joint Venture

Law360, New York (March 22, 2011, 1:27 PM EDT) -- Sanofi-Aventis SA and Merck & Co. Inc. announced Tuesday that they were abandoning an animal health joint venture agreement in the face of increasingly complex regulatory challenges.

The decision to drop the joint venture plan comes nearly a month after the two companies revealed that the transaction had been delayed until the third quarter of 2011 because of a continued antitrust review.
