US Bans Live Bighead Carp Imports

Law360, New York (March 25, 2011, 12:10 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published a final rule Tuesday banning the importation of live Asian bighead carp, an invasive species that critics say has wreaked havoc on the Great Lakes ecosystem.

The final rule published in the Federal Register implements the Asian Carp Prevention and Control Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama in December.
