FTC Warns Miss. Lawmakers Over Drug Manager Bill

Law360, New York (March 22, 2011, 5:57 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission warned Mississippi lawmakers Tuesday that a proposal to put the state's pharmacy board in charge of the managers who work with insurers to handle their drug benefits plans could hurt competition.

In response to a request for comments from State Rep. Mark Formby, FTC staff members said in a letter that the bill could limit lead to higher prescription drug prices and end up hurting Mississippi consumers.
