J&J Unit Downplayed Risperdal's Diabetes Link: Jury

Law360 (March 23, 2011, 10:48 PM EDT) -- A South Carolina jury on Tuesday reportedly found a Johnson & Johnson unit had illegally downplayed the link between its antipsychotic drug Risperdal to diabetes in letters sent to about 7,200 doctors in the state.

The jury mulled the issue for eight hours before siding with the state of South Carolina against J&J's Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. unit in the Circuit Court for Spartanburg County, South Carolina, according to Bloomberg. The jurors also reportedly found that J&J’s warning label information on Risperdal was deceptive.
