Tenn. Lawmakers Say Guns At Work Are Safe

Law360, New York (March 23, 2011, 3:23 PM EDT) -- The Tennessee General Assembly on Wednesday sent Gov. Bill Haslam legislation that would let business owners who allow licensed handguns in their workplace to dodge employment safety complaints.

Earlier in March, the Tennessee House of Representatives passed a bill, S.B. 519, that would amend state employment law to determine that a licensed firearm at a workplace is not a safety and occupational hazard.

Any business that allows licensed gun carriers to bring a firearm onto their premise would avoid possible Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration...
