Gray Wolf ESA Settlement Illegal, Green Groups Say

Law360, New York (March 24, 2011, 3:54 PM EDT) -- Two conservation groups asked a Montana federal judge on Tuesday to retain his judgment restoring Endangered Species Act protection for gray wolves in Idaho and Montana, deeming a subsequent settlement seeking to revoke the protections illegal.

The U.S. Department of the Interior's proposed deal with 10 other conservation groups provides little or no additional protection for gray wolves following their initial delisting from the ESA in Idaho and Montana, two of the four plaintiffs that did not sign the deal argued in the U.S. District Court...
