EEOC Expands Disability Definition In New Regs

Law360, New York (March 24, 2011, 1:46 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Thursday published final rules implementing the 2008 Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, which makes it substantially easier for people to prove they are disabled according to definitions in the underlying statute.

At its most general level, the ADAAA and the EEOC’s implementing regulations require employers and courts to interpret definitions in the original 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act more broadly.
