DOJ Expands Blue Cross Blue Shield Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (March 27, 2011, 4:05 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is reportedly widening its probe of Blue Cross Blue Shield organizations beyond the health insurer's Michigan unit, which was hit with a civil antitrust suit by the agency in October.

The DOJ and several state attorneys general have sent subpoenas to Blue Cross Blue Shield units in Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and the District of Columbia, according to a Wall Street Journal report Friday.
