Ball Resolves SEC Case Over Bribes In Argentina

Law360, New York (March 28, 2011, 5:53 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Thursday that Ball Corp. had agreed to settle allegations that its subsidiary bribed Argentine government employees to secure the importation of barred used machinery and the exportation of raw materials at lower tariffs.

The SEC claimed that Ball’s Argentine unit Formametal SA offered at least 10 bribes totaling at least $106,749 to Argentine customs officials from July 2006 to October 2007 in violation of the books and records and internal controls provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act....
