VW Recalls 71K Jettas Over Wiring Problems

Law360, New York (March 28, 2011, 6:32 PM EDT) -- Volkswagen AG is recalling more than 71,000 model year 2011 Jetta sedans after discovering a wiring system defect that could suddenly deactivate headlights or wipers or cause the engine to stall.

The recall impacts 71,043 Jettas manufactured in Mexico City and distributed across North and South America, according to Volkswagen spokeswoman Sheriece Matias.

About 50,000 of the recalled Jettas are in customer hands, and a majority of them were sold in the U.S., Matias said.
