EU Talks On Cloned Food Law Collapse Over Offspring

Law360, New York (March 29, 2011, 6:48 PM EDT) -- Talks on legislation to ban the sale of food produced from cloned animals in the European Union fell apart Tuesday after lawmakers and member nations couldn't agree on how to deal with food from clones' offspring.

Despite public support for the measure, the European Council and European Commission reached an impasse with members of the EU Parliament after 11 hours of negotiations over whether to ban food produced from the offspring of cloned animals, according to the legislature.
