Obama Aims To Slash Energy Imports

Law360, New York (March 30, 2011, 4:32 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Wednesday outlined his priorities for improving U.S. energy security by expanding offshore drilling, improving vehicle efficiency and developing alternative energy resources, all in hopes of slashing oil imports by one-third by 2025.

“We can't rush to propose action when gas prices are high and hit the snooze button when they fall again,” Obama said during a speech at Georgetown University. “The U.S. can't afford to stake its long-term prosperity on a resource that will run out.”
