Bankrupt Energy Co. Leaves Clients Without Heat

Law360, New York (April 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- New Hampshire's attorney general has initiated a probe into a local oil company that suddenly shut down earlier this month and plans to file for bankruptcy, leaving customers with prepaid contracts without service.

Rumford Energy LLC, a Concord, N.H.-based company, closed its doors on April 13, according to the attorney general’s office. Since then, the attorney general has received about 386 complaints from clients who had already paid for their heating and cooling services.
